A Brief History
The original site in Sears is now the center of operations for eight composting and raw material locations servicing farms, retailers, home gardeners, educational facilities and municipalities in over 40 counties in Michigan. Morgan Composting has been, and will continue to be, a leader in organic and environmentally friendly products locally and throughout the state. Four Season Nursery Testimonial We have been using Morgan Composting products from their beginning. For years Brian had been looking for a compost that blended animal & plant waste and yielded a consistent, balanced soil. It was also important that the operation could deliver hundreds of cubic yards yearly. No large operations were using animal waste and most operations sold a finished compost that had many deficiencies. Morgan composting finally put all the pieces together and have continued to deliver balanced, nutrient rich products. Between our nursery and the landscape division we use on average 500 cubic yards of the Bark Blend and Dairy Doo every year, using the products liberally on plant installations and perennial gardens we install. We consistently get tremendous results. The ability of both these products to hold moisture is another big benefit. We don't see rapid, forced growth, we see sustained, steady growth. Our Landscape division manages about 70 Plant Care accounts and the only fertilizers we use are the Poultry Supreme and Poultry Plus. These help to return some of the nutrients that have been used by the plants the previous year, and keep the plants in a healthy condition. |
A list of Morgan Compost products we currently carry: DAIRY DOO (bulk & bagged) - is our original high carbon compost with the nutrient composition from cow manure. Excellent as a soil amendment for most general purposes. BARK BLEND (bulk & bagged) - A blend of Dairy Doo, Poultry Compost, processed Pine Bark, Sphagnum Peat, Brown Rock Phosphate, and Gypsum. Great for flower beds and healing in trees. POTTING SOIL (bagged) - Our original blend of potting soil with our base product being Dairy Doo, a blend of Sphagnum Peat, composted wood fines, Perlite, Vermiculite, Brown Rock Phosphate and Gypsum. Bagged Fertilizers: NATURE SAFE LAKE FRIENDLY FERTILIZERS - with zero phophates Custom blends are available in most bulk mixes. Shipments of small orders are available in Totes (1.5 cubic yard). Morgan Composting began in 1996 as a solution to a manure management problem at Morgan Acres Dairy Farm in Sears Michigan. Since then the original "Dairy Doo" compost has expanded into a full line of products including Topsoil Compost Blends, Poultry Compost, container and planting bed mixes and several custom compost blends.
